Jews are also called the Children of Israel in the Bible.

They probably named it after the ancient civilization of Israel thousands of years ago.

Because the Egyptian High Priest Moses in the first five Books of Talmud, he called them so! Since then, they believe that this is their "name" and gave it to the first country they had!
