My best friend told me tha once you have a baby they cut the umbillical cord off and place it back inside of the uterus of the mother. She says that they do this so that the next child will have something to feed off of. Is this really true?

no
the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta, which is expelled/delivered after the baby is born
if the mother has requested that the cord blood be saved - and she has ordered the kit and arranged for storage with a reputable company in advance - then that will be collected from the umbilical cord before it is disposed

if the woman has another child, then a placenta and umbilical cord of it's very own will grow in the uterus along with the baby

LOL. Sorry, your friend is misinformed. They do cut the cord off the baby... but it does not go back in the mother. The umbillical cord goes from baby to the placenta. Once it's cut from baby, the rest of the cord comes out with the plecenta, which is expelled right after the baby is born (usually with one more push).

whaaaaaat? Lol. Please make sure you and your friend are not procreating anytime soon.

The umbillical cord is attached to the baby, and to the placenta, which is attached to the uterine wall. After the baby is born, and the cord is cut, the uterine wall is shed from the body. the rest of the cord, the placenta and the bloody lining of the uterus are shed, much like the uterine linging that is shed with each period.

The placenta and cord are unique to each child, and are grown anew with each pregnancy.

When sperm meets egg, and the egg implants in the uterus, half the cell begin to create the baby, and the other half begin to create the placenta, these two things are connected by the cord.

Dont believe anything your oblivious friend tells you. lol.

God No.... that's like putting something dead back in your body. The embillical cord serves it's purpose only when the baby is in the placenta, and is attached to the placenta. Once the baby is born the cord is cut, then a few minutes later you "give birth" to the placenta, and everything comes out. A new one grows the next time you are pregnant, when a new placenta is formed.

NO, not at all, the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta, which gets removed from the mother, when she passes the placenta after giving birth. Your best friend may have heard this from someone who wasn't quite sure what they are talking about.

That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard! She's totally pulling a fast one on you. Leaving the umbillical cord in the body could only do more harm than good.

that is ridiculous, that is so not true. the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta which gets pulled out after birth because if you left it in your uterus you would get a major infection.

That is very not true. Every person that has answered your question is telling you exactly what happens after you give birth. I have seen it all and they are telling you in very good detail all about what happens. So your friend was probably just joking around with you or your friend is very misinformed.
