How can you blame the media, when their focus is misdirected, or at the very least very amusing?

This morning I was watching the news. I saw the news about Britney Spears divorcing here hubby about five times at least in less than two hours!
How can we trust the media when they talk about Britney's divorce much more than important news?

Who cares about her divorce? She is only a singer, I don't care. Do you!

Five times! oops, now it is six times about her divorce! Good Grief!!!!!

the news media needs all the attention it could get. people tend to enjoy gossip more than whatever really matters. sigh.
