no...gravity always acts on one point known as your center of gravity...not on ur face
but since there is a pull on ur body ur joints in ur body are compressed togethere because between the joints is a lubricating fluid.....gases and fluids(to a smaller extent) can be compressed this is the cause of shortning

Yes, you are absolutely right. Indeed astronauts "grow" in space, usually an inch or so. You can also grow about half and inch by repeatedly hanging by your arms to let gravity "stretch" the space between the vertebrae.

I think some people do get shorter as they get older, but I'm not sure if it is gravity that does it.

Actually it is the space between your vertebrae that shrinks - less padding between the bones as you grow older that causes you to shrink.

combination of osteoporosis, gravity, poor genetics- possibly, poor physical health- being out of shape, poor diet- lack of/ too much Calcium, etc. !
The human body is a complex machine- Doctors don't even understand it completely.
Maybe we never will ?
