Be sure to include plenty of fiber in your daily diet: fiber is found in whole grain bread (not white), all fresh fruit, especially prunes, and vegetables, especially beans of various kinds and chick peas. (Read the nutritional labels and a book on general nutrition.)Avoid eggs for a while, for they can be binding. Move about as much as possible, perhaps setting a target of 2 miles or more of walking a day. If you drink, a glass of red wine a day until the problem has cleared up. I think you will be all right in a day or two. If the problem has not resolved itself, I would try standard laxatives for a day before going to the doctor. Good luck, for it is an annoying situation.

Unless it's an actual medical problem, you really need to change your diet. We're "supposed" to go after every meal (like every other animal! How often does your dog go! Mine goes 3x a day!) but with our diets and what we put into our bodies, it makes a mess for our digestive systems and blocks everything up. I know as soon as I changed my diet from less processed foods, more vegetables and foods with many different grains in them, it definitely helped! Fiber is really the key. For now though, I've heard a few things... don't do them ALL though!
~Taking Apple pectin helps with constipation and brings fibers into the body.
~Take folic acid. If you don't normally intake enough folic acid, it can lead to constipation.
~To clean and heal the digestive system take Aloe vera juice twice a day.
~Ginger tea is a great home remedy for constipation. It helps start bowel movement.
~Eat lots of fruits, green vegetables cabbage, peas, carrots, garlic, sweet potatoes, all these are high in fiber
~Exercise often a simple stroll in the park can relieve constipation.

Hope this helps!

Constipation is from a lack of water in the bowels. I would guess that your first problem is that you are dehydrated. You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces every day.
If you weigh 200 pounds, you should drink 100 ounces of water every day. Not soda, not juice or milk. Water.
