My daughter is 4 months old and she went to her check up yesterday and the doctor said that she is doing things that a 6 month old would normally be doing. She almost sits up and rolls over both ways and jumps up and down. Does anyone else have a child that is like that? What age do they usually start crawling?

My daughter is the same way she is 8 months and almost walking. She actually stands up on her own without help. She started crawling at 6 months even going up steps. by 5 months she had the rolling over and sitting down to a science then she would get on all 4 and rock back and for and started crawling, standing up and she has 7 teeth. She was also 4 weeks premature

Whatever you're doing to help her learn keep it up. Also remember that she may be "advanced" with gross motor skills but has a little trouble with the fine motor skills, etc. Just make sure that you don't stress about this. Let your daughter learn at her own pace.
On the crawling thing. The dept of pediatrics doesn't really consider crawling an achievement anymore.

Thankfully I didn't have a child like that, I enjoy them being stationary as long as possible because once they start moving, walking and talking it gets almost impossible. She's not "advanced" she just does some physical things before other babies, hopefully she won't start walking too soon that'll be really hard. I always pray that my daughter doesn't start walking til atleast 1 yr old. Just because your baby is doing a few things earlier than others it does not mean that everything will be that way so don't expect her to be physically and mentally ahead of everyone her age throughout her life.

my son was like that at 3 monthsi put him in a walker and he would take off. noone believed me so i taped it! he is 3 now and almost at the level of a 5 year old. crawling was brief for him like 2 months at about 5 months old but then he would walk on his hands and feet and by 8months he was walking(wobbly but walking). however he had issues in other areas one of the hardest was sipping a straw, his cousin is a bit over 2 weeks older and was doing the straw thing at a year; keifer though it took another 6 months of hard work to get him to that point.

Our son was a preemie yet he was ahead in his development.

There's no real way to say when she'll start to crawl. Our son was ready to crawl, but it took him over a month to master it. He was okay with rolling.

As long as she's moving, don't worry. Expect crawling soon though!

It is difficult to pin point when a child will actually start to crawl. My oldest grand daughter never did in fact. She would scoot around on her bottom to get where she needed to go. Keep nurturing your daughter and she will do just fine.

Most babies are advanced in at least some areas, or so it seems. There are many parents with babies like yours. On avg babies crawl around 8 or 9 mths I think - then there are others who are walking by that age.

Babies usually crawl around 5 months.

It's good that she's advanced, but that doesn't mean she'll be advanced in crawling or walking. Keep up the good work though :-)
