I have a frustration, maybe some of you can help me understand this.

I understand not liking violence, I even understand the belief it's not ever a solution, I could quibble with that, but I understand it. But sometimes it seems like those arguing against any and all forms of violence have not only no spine, but have no real sense of right and wrong; don't understand the concept of comeuppance.

Honestly, there are bad people, and when you can't call them the trash they are without someone interjecting with comments about how you shouldn't be so mean, what am I to think? You can't ever call people what they are?

Yes, it can make things worse. Yes, it may not be deserved. But I believe most of those lecturing against it aren't thinking one bit about the character of the person labelled as scum, they simply speak against violence like programmed robots. The worst is they seem to have no expressed desire to the filth get some sort of punishment, they just say things like, leave

it to the system. Does nothing else matter? Some people deserve to be verbally assaulted. I'm sorry, but they do. Include me in that if you want.

*desire to see the filth.

I expect, honestly, to get thumbs downs from people simply because I'm willing to say some people are filth. I'm sure there are many reasons to hate how I phrased my commentary, heck, even to dislike the fact that I brought this issue up, but is it me or you that has the problem if you can't call a spade a spade?

That's a big question.

By refusing to engage in a violent, verbal or physical, response, I am refusing to feed negative energy into a system already rife with it. I know that makes me sound like a new-age quack, and all I can say is that I really am a rational person. I'm not claiming that I don't understand the desire to take retribution, I do, but in giving in to that desire, we don't really generate a solution, we just create a new problem.

The link below is to a podcast of UC Berkeley's Introduction to Nonviolence course. If anyone is interested in this subject I'd really recommend it.

Wooooow. Are we or you referring to on answers or in real life? On here, then you need to let it go in one ear and out the other. On here, the majority (that means over 50%) just answer--in general--not thinking--and this (or whatever) is real to you--not to them. Also, we are dealing with immaturity on here. You have no idea of the age of those responding.
Also, each personality is different. (also in real life.) Each of us handles these frustrations differently. I tend to agree with you all the way. I just try to stay away from the scum (as you refer to it) but sometimes it is impossible. If rudeness is necessary --use it. My opinion. If they are scum, they probably won't realize. I really do not like to see physical violence. In that case, I personally would call the law--use legal means. Keep them off your property--get a restraining order--whatever it might take. Good luck
