The total number of years a person can serve as president is 10. Example: Say President Bush is unable to serve the remaining 2 years of his presidency (after January 20, 2007) Vice President Cheney would serve the remaining time of President Bush's term. Then Vice President Cheney could serve 2 full four-year terms.
