You need a basic understanding of prime numbers. I'm pretty much a geek so I've always been into that. Then you divide the number by the smallest prime. The you pull out the pairs. That will give you the root.

Example: 100/2=50
50/2=25
25/5=5
5/5=1

You are left with a pair of 2's and a pair of 5's.

Therefor the square root of 100 is 5x2=10
