You can give them the hermit crab food from the pet store as well as cheerios, crackers, dried plain oatmeal, romaine lettace, kale, strawberries, carrots, almost any fruits and veggies. Just remember that they are scavengers and they tend to bury their food so make sure that you sift through the sand in their tank to check for food that they've hidden so that it doesn't rot. Only leave plates of fresh food in the tank for the day and remove it after 24 hours.
Make sure you are soaking them at least every other day in warm water, they love it! Any other questions email me.

you can buy hermit crab food at your local pet store or feed them pieces of dried fruits or veggies, also be sure to read up on how to care for them because they are pretty delicate creatures, for example they will rot if you bath them wrong and they need a new shell every so often, have fun

They eat almost anything they can pick up. That is why those painted shells are so bad for them, b/c they will eat the paint peelings.
Be very careful soaking them in water, as someone above me said. Most are terrified of drowning, even if it is very shallow. I'm not saying you shouldnt do it, just dont do it too often, as it puts a lot of stress on them.

They are scavengers, so anything they would be able to find in or near a river,
although I do know crabs have a weakness for chicken bones (go figure?!)
