Grand Old Party:
The Republican Party (often referred to as the GOP, for Grand Old Party) is one of the two major political organizations in the United States' two party system; the Democratic Party is the other. Since 1856 Republicans have won 23 of the 38 presidential elections which they've contested, including 7 of the last 10; eighteen of the twenty-eight U.S. Presidents since 1857 have been Republicans.

For many Republicans, GOP stands for:
Grand old Party
Gallant old Party
God's own Party
Get out and Push
For other Republicans LIKE ME it's:
Government of the People
The latter description is most closely associated with the widely held republican philosophy that the people can best govern themselves.
All have been used by Republicans. I'm hoping the party wants to stick with the last one.

GOP stands for Grand Ole party. The GOP is only used as short for the Republican party which makes up the conservatives of our usa. additionally the nickname ' Dems ' is short for Democrats who make up the Democratic party, representing the liberals. mutually the Democrats and Republicans make up our basically substantial events. bear in mind that the U. S. gov is a 2 party equipment because of the fact another third party is insignificant and has no seats in our Congress in spite of the undeniable fact that we do have 2 Independents yet with Democratic leanings. In different words, the GOP is like Canada's Conservative party and the Dems like Canada's Liberal and creative events.
