I am about 5'9" and am not fat, but certainly could stand to lose some weight. I generally wear a size 12, but can often fit into 10's and 11's. I see girls bigger than me all the time who look good in their clothes, but I look horrible! I don't understand why I'm so hard to dress. It's like clothes just don't look good on me or something. I thought it might just be certain clothes so I went shopping, but then nothing looked good on me! Something is either too loose or too tight! I don't have an out of proportion body or anything. I'm pretty well proportioned, I don't have a big butt or thighs. Why is dressing such a depressng thing for me? Why can't I find clothes that look good?!

Find something you like and have it tailored to fit you. Most dry cleaning places do alterations, such as taking in the waist of some pants, lengthening or shortening the legs, etc.

When you find something that fits you ALMOST perfect, just go to the dry cleaners and get it tailored.Whats a few extra dollars on a nice fitted pair of jeans????Also, pick clothes that fit you.....don't go tight!!!Try what fits best for YOU,and everything will work out...you might want to try a totally different store.....like me,i was a perfect size 7,then i had a baby....now I'm a tight size 7...when i first went to the store to buy post baby clothes,i was depressed because i was shopping at wet seal and everybody there was tiny size 3 and 5.....but when i started getting clothes at department stores(bigger but still in style) i loved it,i also just went u that extra size to a 9 and i felt alto more comfortable!!!!

most times the problem is you're wearing clothes that you see look good on others... the clothes you would like to wear what you need to do.. is work on clothes that work on you.
don't try to dress against your body... let the clothes work for your body.
you've seen those shows. where the stylist works along the lines and contours of the person they're trying to make over...
you should ask some of the more knowledgable types whenever you shop and ask them... why this looks terrible and what can work?
maybe you need more tailored clothes? dress jackets.... basic colors...
the professional - casual mix works well with giants...
:D
i should know.
look smart when you dress.. that's the important part.
just when you shop... try on different clothes.. and mix and match see what works the best and when it hits you as good looking.. take a long look at why.. and what you are using that works well with the body shape.
:D
and work from there.

I have had the same problem my whole life. I'm about 5'6" and wear a size 9 or 11, but it seems like whenever I see something cute I try it on and it doesn't fit my shape at all. It just takes more time to shop. Try looking for shirts that have a longer cut (sounds like you're kind of tall) to fit a longer torso better. Jeans you may want to try shopping for in the women's section rather than juniors because women's clothing is cut differently.

Maybe your just trying to stuff 10 lbs of sausage into a 5 lb sack?
Try on things that actually fit you! Maybe that's what the other girls are doing differently.
From your description of yourself... it sounds like a self esteem issue. Nothing wrong with a size 12 on someone 5' 9". The sooner you realize that, the more comfortable you'll become in your own skin!
It also has a little to do with your body shape. Pears can't wear clothing made for Apples or Coke bottles. It doesn't work.
I am a classic coke bottle... Boobs, small waste and hips!
I can't wear anything that accentuates my wast too much or I look like Peggy bundy!

you are worrying too much about the way other people look and what they think about the way you look
if you were 2 stop thinking about what others think it would become much easier 2 shop
just remember
its your life and you only get 2 live it once dress the way you want and dress by the way you feel
like e when i am sad you may see me in bright colors because bright colors make me feel good inside.
just be you!!

you should watch what not to wear. here are some tips: - spend money on good clothes, they look better and you'll wear them longer. -try try and try again. if it doesn't look good, don't buy it! better to have 7 great outfits than 20 crappy ones! - get a good tailor. i tack on $20 per garment i buy and visit a great tailor. he makes everything fit my body. it's so worth the investment. also a great boost for your self-esteem is exercise! dancing is a great way to get curves, and boost your confidence. good luck!

If clothes don't look good on you, as you say, then you should try without any and get back to birthday beauty for a change!

You probably look very good in your clothes, but we are all our own worst critic. Probably all in your head.
