I guess I just tell myself that no matter how much I dislike it has to be done sooner or later so I may as well just do it now and do it right so that it can be over quickly and I wont have to do it again.

I remind myself that I will like the results and give myself freedom to skive off a bit after. My graduate work is all reading and writing at this point, and as such I sometimes get weary.
Some how I keep going. Being here answering questions is a part of my skiving time!
Favorite other skives:
Listening to BBC digital,
Hanging out with mates
Talking with a romantic interest
Enjoying my dogs
Reading
Shopping
and almost anything that is not deadly or related to my academic work.

Try to make little rewards for yourself like you will get to use the internet when you are done with your task. Or you will go see a film or a show. When you are done or -- give yourself limits like, I will do this for an hour and then I will take a 15 minute break... etc. It really helps. Remember that these are things you need to get done - just try to get it over with and you'll feel so much better. Best of luck!

Well, when I have a lot of stuff to do that I don't want to, I remember what my 4th grade teacher once told me - always start with the thing you want to do least. Then keep going that way... by the time you are almost done, you're doing the projects that aren't so bad (and maybe actually want to do).
Otherwise, I just keep thinking about how stressed I will be if I keep procrastinating and don't do it. But that's just me... I can't sleep if I know I have a lot of work to do..

break it down into smaller more manageable pieces or steps. make a list of all the little things you need to do to make your big goal. as you accomplish them, check them off - you will feel better. if you reach a roadblock - take a break, take a walk, take a breath. then when you feel more refreshed go back to work. giving yourself a break helps clear your mind and allows your subconscious mind to keep working while your conscious mind is having fun!
one other thing i do that i find helps me immensely. find a friend or two that will encourage you and truely be happy for you when you achieve your goal. ask them to ride your "caboodle" for a while. keep you motivated. i have a small group of friends and we always love each other and sometimes give each other a kick in the hind end to remind us of who we are, where we are going and that it isn't going to just be handed to us. that helps the most

Make a plan, cut it into small chunks, reward yourself as each faze is completed and take a little rest but know when you are procrastinating, stay focused, continually remind yourself of the great feeling of accomplishment you will have when you have completed the task.
If you are studying imagine yourself standing on the stage receiving your diploma.

If I have a lot of housework to do, I tell myself that there will be visitors in the afternoon for tea! Panic and off I go like a whirling tornado, and I get my housework done before 12!!! Works every time!

Cause if you dont do those things, who will? The sooner you do em the sooner theyll be done & you feel good about it being done afterwards. Im that way w/cleaning house. I HATE doing it & alot of times put it off, then it gets worse & I feel like crap, so I just take time out when I have some time to kill & get it done. Once I start, its easier to keep going.

Sometimes it might be better to admit to yourself: I do not like what I am doing and I am not motivated to do it at all but I should do it because of... This might bring you to a position of having motivation to have no motivation.
