If the previous owner took good care of it with regular oil changes and the miles are predominently highway miles it could be ok.
My mother drove a Lumina for years, put about 150,000 miles on it, and then bought another Lumina, I think a 98. She swears by them.

Nononononono. At 10 years, and with that kind of mileage - no. I never keep a car more than 10 years because that's when you start getting nickeled and dimed to death for little things, and just when you think everything's taken care of, the bloody transmission falls apart. Do get something newer [Chevvies are great products with great warranties] and have it checked by a good mechanic, make sure it's not a 'hot car' and pay only a fair price. $1500.00 is too much for the Lumina.

If its in really good shape and has been well taken care of then it $1500 would be worth it. But look at spending a lot of money to keep it running with that kind of mileage on it.

Its dead. Don't buy high-mileage Ford or Chevrolet if you can help it. If you're really on a tight budget, check out Saturn. The resale on them is terrible, so they're really cheap used cars. But they run pretty well and are cheap to repair. Good luck!
