Well, as for confidence, that's all in you. If you decide to be confident, you will be! But some ways to help boost confidence and energy are to listen to songs that pump you up (and singing along is a great way to warm up). As for breath, keep your diaphragm firm- what I mean is keep your stomach muscles firm and you'll be able to keep a steadier breath. Warming up a lot also helps- when you first start singing it's always a little harder to hold your breath. I hope this helps. I know the breathing can be hard, esp. when you're nervous. Just be confident- no one that listens to you or your friends wants you to do bad, so they're not looking for the bad if you know what I mean. So don't worry about the audience. Usually they can't even tell if you mess up! ;)

1. Practice. The more you practice, the more confident you will become.
2. Exercise. Swimming is the absolute best exercise for a singer as it will build your lung capacity.
3. Build your shelf. Let me explain. When you are about to sing, take a deep breath and fill your lungs. Your back should be straight, your shoulders level, and pretend that your breasts are on a shelf. Now, when you let your breath out keep them on the shelf. This will keep your upper body ready for deep, quick breaths.
4. Diaphragmatic Breathing. Now that you have your shelf, breathe with your diaphragm. This is what your body wants to do.
5. Other Breathing. If you have long lines in the song, you might want to try what opera singers do. Expand not only your diaphragm, but also your back. When opera singers breath in, you can see the clothes on their backs expand. (Away from the audience so that they don't see it!) It gives you extra breath. Try it.
Best of luck to you!

Get fit as the fitter you are the better your lung function so get those mates out jogging for 20 mins a day and then you can all sing your hearts out. If you all concentrate on how good it feels to sing beautiful songs you will all loose your stage fright. Get practising and be able to sing it well and you will know you all sound good.

you need to do some breathing excersizes basically every now and again take as deep a breath as you can and hold it for a short while, doing this before a gig may reduce nerves as well, also just keep saying to yourself that you can do it

i find it easy to learn a few breathing techniques and strengthen my diaphragm. also, just practise songs with long notes and that will help with holding notes. it works for me every time.
