That is a hard one. I was very sick and I was going to keep it a secret too, but I changed my mind and told people. Definately tell your boss, but as far as others go, it is up to you. How close are you to your co-workers? And if anything happens, are you the type that will be upset by a lot of questions, or the type that will appreciate all the support? Maybe you should just tell the ones you are close to and make up some story for the rest. I found it hard though becuase I felt bad about lying, especially to the ones I was close to. I think that women who are able to keep it a secret must not get very sick, but in my condition, I couldn't have done it. I figured that if anything had happened, I would have appreciated the support of friends, and hopfully those friends would have been kind enough to let all the people who were just nosy know about what happened before all the questions got to me (or at least most of them). The other thing to take into consideration is, are there things about your job that you should not be doing while pregnant? It will be much harder for you to keep it a secret if there is. By the way, I am 5 months now and off of work for the rest of the pregnancy. Good Luck to you!

I think it all depends on your situation. I tried to tell my boss yesterday (8 weeks) but, didn't pan out because we were never available at the same times. And, apparently he's gone all day today.
I feel that I should tell them because I've had 1 Friday off for an actual vacation. That monday I got back & found out. So, the next Friday I had my first appointment. The following Friday I had my first ultrasound, then I was here but, the week after (this Friday) I have another doctor appointment. Considering I've been gone so much and also look horrible and have been running late. I believe he deserves an explanation.
Also, I am completley paranoid as well. I know I may not be that far but I am showing. I'm sick of sucking it in everytime I walk by someone whom I think might notice!
Good Luck!

Tell them! They can be very helpful! It will make you feel better if you tell them because then you don't have to feel like you are keeping anything from them and they will not have to worry about you having some terrible illness. I work in a clinic where I would have had to carry heavy medical charts and be involved in procedures that were really not safe for me to be assisting in while pregnant so I told my co-workers as soon as I found out (which was at 8 weeks) and it made my life much easier! And telling them is so much fun! Good luck with your pregnancy!!

It will probably get worse before it gets better. If you are talking about the nausea - this could develop into full blown vomitting at any time of the day - not just in the morning. If it becomes a problem at work - you will have to tell them (that is, if they haven't already guessed). Staying off coffee and caffeinated drinks will help enormously. It took me three pregnancies to work that one out! Ginger and peppermint tea are both very good for nausea. Keep some dried crackers handy as they also help. You may also be experiencing some early afternoon fatigue. This is completely normal and you can help fight it by going for a bit of a walk or stretching before it hits you. Enjoy this time if you can and good luck!

I'm also pregnant (11 weeks) I told my boss by 6 weeks because I felt so horrible. It was hard enough to get up in the morning, never mind getting sick and getting to work on time.... He was very understanding. Its completely up to you, a lot of people wait til 3 months, I didn't. Good luck!

I had to deal with this. I waited to tell my coworkers when I was ready, but that still doesn't mean I didn't deal with a few nosey ppl. I told my office manager and my supervising atty.- that was it. I had one lady that was bold enough to ask and I told her no (which I didn't want to do) but when I did finally get the okay from the doctor and told my co workers, I made sure she knew it was rude of her to put me on the spot like that and if I wanted her to know, I would have told her then right along with everyone else. Once the wonderful news was out, many ppl. came up to me and said "I KNEW IT!" but they were polite enough to keep their pondering thoughts to themselves. I still really don't like that lady that asked me. haha:) Most people will be conciderate enough to understand it will come out eventually, even if your growing belly is the one that does the talking!

I waited until 11 to 12 weeks. The reason you've already heard the heartbeat and you are passed the beginning stages when most miscarriages happen. Congratulations and you'll start feeling better soon. Feeling terrible, and having morning sickness is a great sign your pregnancy is strong!! Good luck to you and your little one!!

I told my co workers right away so they didn't expect too much from me at that difficult time. Keep the stress low and just tell who you need to. They will all understand you wanting to keep it low and will also keep your morning sickness and all in mind when asking tasks out of you.... well at least if you work in a normal place lol they will!

If I were you, I would tell them. That way, they can support you in any of your needs, and they can be understanding of what you are going trought.
I told my boss right away, and good thing I did too, because I had a miscarriage, and I had to miss work for a week. But because he knew what was going on, it was easier on me.
Good luck with your pregnancy, and take care.
