Ok, I know(from the numerous websites I've visited) that stretch marks are caused by over-stretching of the skin, damage inflicted on collagen and such right. But is it actually good or bad? Because i'm actually quite confused, whether stretch marks imply that you've gained weight(and still haven't lost them), Or are they caused because you've gained weight, AND then you lost weight too quickly, therefore is an indication that you've become thinner? Or are both cases possible? Hope you guys understand my question. Thanks.

Thanks for the answers up to this point.
P.S
What i meant by "good" is that if stretch marks imply that you may have gained weight too quickly once, but you have lost some weight(be it quick or slow).
"bad" would of course be, you gained weight too quickly. full stop.

When I was 11, I had drastically gained weight. Went from 70 to 135 lbs. due to the illness then death of my father. Months after we stopped eating hospital food and food donated I lost the weight as quickly as I came. Thus now having stretch marks on my thighs, hips and lower back. This area is my trouble zone anyways. Since have had my 4 kids at the age of 24. Lots more stretch marks. I would definetly attibute these to the sudden weight gain/loss. Now they are a part of me. Have faded over the past 4 years. Are more sensitive, i.e. if I scratch that are due to dry skin, my stretch marks will hurt and very lightly bleed. I heard cocoa butter can help with appereance/healing. I don't think there is something that would take them totally away albeit surgery.

Stretch marks appear when you gain weight quickly, such as in puberty or pregnancy. They don't go away when you lose weight, either quickly or slowly, alas, although with time they become fainter. So they're neither good nor bad... they just show you've gained weight at some point in your life.

Well stretch marks are broken veins and you don't have to gain or loose weight to have stretch marks. You can receive them from carrying a child on your hip(your side) and most pregnant people get them from carrying a baby and stretching their stomach. In my opinion its not a good thing and its not nothing no one should be stressed over.
