This defeat is actually a good thing for the Republicans.
I say this because now people who believe in the foundation of republican beliefs (smaller government, fiscal responsibility) have an opportunity to regroup and kick the neo-con slimes out of their party and get back to the principals of Goldwater & Regan.
I'm not a Republican but I want to at least be able to respect their party again.

I'm dancing in my kitchen just as I do every morning. Good day or bad day, I put on my boogie shoes and dance up a smile.

I'm so sick of politicians.

The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to govern. Every class is unfit to govern.
Lord Acton

Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.
Thomas Paine

"Do You See What Happens Larry?" is correct, this shift in "power" will play into the republicans hands in two years, unless the democrats attempt to work with the re-pubes for the good of the country. (ha-right!)
Just remember the democrats are politicians too, and we need to watch them in order to minimize the damage they do.
What's worse, spend spend spend, or borrow borrow borrow?
