If you're sending money to Nigeria, please know the identity of your recipient - personally. Otherwise, you're setting yourself up to be scammed.

However, if you're travelling to Nigeria and would like to know if your credit/ATM card will work, I think the answer is, 'Yes'. The banking system has been greatly upgraded in the last 12 months. Being a cash-based market though, you generally want to have cash with you ...just in case.

Ebeth - the Bank of America isn't a "central bank" - It can operate in any country it chooses, regardless of its name.

Actually, there is. Not necessarily the same one that YOU have in mind but there is.
There are also other prestigous establishments here in the same manner. Four Seasons, Caesar Palace, Regents, Raffles, Mandarin....just to name a few.
P.S. They have a "Central Bank" too.
