Even with a minority in the senate the democrats have managed to stall all nominees at least some length of time, if not continuing to do so now. They still managed to have hearings for political self agrandizement (more of that to come as 2008 nears to be sure). The thing people should be focused on are the REAL issues this country faces, but don't expect any progress. With the news media in their hip pocket the democrats may be a juggernaut. HOWEVER if republicans get their act together and realize the independent ballot inititaves that passed on illegal immigration and protecting private property rights could save their boat in 2008 , things could turn around. Protectionism alone will not solve the trade defecit, and as Pelosi's favorite foreign country is Communist China don't expect anything meaningful from Congress anyways. What is needed is a global standard of human rights, labor scale and enviromental protections. But the UN can't even stop nuclear proliferation, or convince anyone that they are really trying. Why were these not the issues instead of gay marriage and stem cell research?

It's a mental thing that both parties droll over. We vote and winner thinks everyone in the United States agrees with them.
Obviously you already know that. But, I think most citizens only pay attention to politics about two weeks before elections. They only hear what the candidate will say to win.
Got a feeling you feel the same as I do about Leiberman.
He pulled it off and it should give him some very interesting political power. Hopefully, he will use it to spank the Democrats that deserted him.

The start of years of crying for the right, deal with it girl things are not going to be the same for at least a decade. Let the good times roll, frankly I am so tired of listening to why should be at war, republicans so powerful they feel comfortable misusing that power to brazen proposition pages, having the whole world hate us, and frankly it will be a breath of fresh air especially in 2 years.
Have a nice next ten years.

I'm worried because, throughout this entire campaign season, I've not heard a single democrat present a plan for anything, They all just ran on anti-war sentiment. What are any of them planning on doing?

Maybe its not about passing into law but getting a foothold and slowing down Bush.
Besides, we're not going to be SAD about winning in the House.
How about you give it up and admit that your side lost. The majority chose the Democrats for the House. DEAL WITH IT. ITS DEMOCRACY.
