Registered Nurse here; Early warning signs of Stroke:
# 1. In coming stimulis not tracking just right, for instance someone ask you a simple question, and you find your self, looking and searching for a response, doesn't come easily.
# 2. Manipulation if objects with difficulty is a sign of possible stroke, such as dropping your coffee cup, however I tend to agree with the other R.N., that the symptoms you've described are probably not related to stroke, however the other R.N., is mistaken by sharing with you a stroke affects the entire side of your body, I'm a RN of 24 plus years, and a stroke may just affect the hand, should, leg, foot, etc. on one side of the body.
# 3. Evaluate yourself for stress factors, are you getting enough sleep, maintain adequate nutrition, regular exercises routine. And are you moving to fast, in other words to you just grab for a cup, while trying to do a number of other things.
# 4. Since it's impossible to fully or adequately evaluate someone over Yahoo. Let me Strongly suggest, you have your blood pressure checked, please make an appointment with your family care Physician, if you don't have one, now would be the prefect opportunity to find one, make a list and share all your health concerns with he or she for they are your very best resource for health care. Thanks for the opportunity to address such an important and well written question.

I am assuming you are describing an ongoing problem. A stroke doesn't work that way, it happens when it happens no build up so to speak. My guess without knowing more would be some type of nerve issue like multiple sclerosis of which you are definitely in the right age group for. Time to see the doctor.

To check for signs of stroke:
1. Ask person to smile.
2. Ask person to raise both arms.
3. Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence.
The idea is to look for a droop in the smile, an imbalance in the arms and slurring in the speech.
If you can do all of the above without any problem, then please don't worry, but you may want to get the doc to check you out anyway to find out what's causing it.

stroke symptoms involve the entire side that is affected, not just the hand. If you've been have trouble holding onto a cup, it is more likely something like tendonitis or carpal tunnel.

Please go to see your doctor. Do not waste any more time asking people here. If in fact you have had a stroke there are treatments that can be done to relieve symptoms as well as help prevent further strokes.

First of all please rush to a doctor, you need to have a check up. Its known women hesitate and delay their visits either to ER's or to doctors and sometimes it can be fatal. If it would be a stroke (I am no doctor but my spouse had one) its not only the hand that is affected but the leg and sometimes also half of the face. Still I would strongly advise you to see a doctor a.s.a.p.

You might have some nerve problems or poor circulation. Either way, wouldn't hesitate to call your doctor.
