Yes, it would make them Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham. Look at Sir Paul McCartney and Lady Heather Mills McCartney. He received the honour and she received the title as she was married to a Sir. If it was the other way around though and it was Victoria who was receiving the honour, they would be Mr David and Lady Victoria as in the lineage of orders, if he was to become Sir David when it was her that received the honour, it would make him higher up the scale than her which is incorrect.

If you look at the situation with the Queen. Her husband is a prince not a king as if he was a king, he would be higher in the social order than she when she is the monarch and he is merely her husband. Similarly when the Queen's niece, Lady Helen Windsor got married, her husband is still Mr Chatto but she is Lady Helen Chatto still.

The Beckham children will not be able to inherit their parents' title though as it is an honour for David alone.

No. Becks would just be Sir David B. Only a lord's wife can be a lady i.e. the guy has to be of noble birth. Everyone who thinks she can get the title is wrong. Its a knighthood not a Lordship (title of a feudal baron with an estate)

FYI: Its Heather Mills and Linda McCartney. Two very different people. I hope so because the latter has been buried for some years now. Also, Heather Mills is not known as Lady Heather Mills; nor was Linda McCartney. She could have been called Mr and Mrs Sir Paul McCartney, nothing else. For she has no title, its his. No one who made food with soya and some mushroom extract crap deserves to be knighted...

Yes, but it's ridiculous he is much too young, there are plenty of people, 'stars' and ordinary folk who have worked hard that deserve it before he even gets a look in.

Elton John, Tom Jones and others shouldn't have got knighthoods as they deserted their country.

Good question I'm not sure of that. Look at the ones who are Lords and se if their wives were already Ladys or did they get the title by marraige.

No. Only formally in parties if she were to accompany him. And she was already a Lady. Look at her family.
