In 1994 the American people voted for change and placed you in power after a 40 year democratic reign.

In 2000 you get the gift from the gods and monopolize all three branches.

In 2002 the sentiment of the nation fell in your court. The democrats were leaderless, platformless, and weak on America's toughest issues. For all states and purposes we become a one party nation.

2003 War in Iraq.

2004-2006 The leadership of the leader of the republicans is highly scrutinized as corruption within the party, awful desicions, and personal gains at America's expense trickles down throughout the party. So instead of finishing the Democrats off, which surely was possible, you imploded and allowed the same leaderless, platformless, weak willed party to defeat you simply because they weren't you.

How do you feel about your party in hindsight?

NOTE: I'm an independent who was once a republican and never a democrat. I am quite worried where this election is going to lead us.

I was a Republican yesterday (although moderate), I'm a Republican today. I'm just not a socialist. That's the bottom line. You can't force people not to want a handout or to vote against something instead of for it. You have to respect the process.

No i do not. Boehner is shedding none of his blood, sweat, and tears in Iraq. I nonetheless won't be able to belive we are debating being Iraq...after we by no potential must have lengthy gone there contained in the first position. that is the dumbest ingredient this us of a has ever done. And now we are attempting to cajole ourselves that we ought to stay otherwise it receives worse. we do not recognize that it receives worse...yet we are confident that purely individuals can remedy the topics there. we are able to all individuals nonetheless be debating this a three hundred and sixty 5 days from on the prompt and the blood of yet another 1000 brothers and sisters may were spilled. So mark you calendars...a three hundred and sixty 5 days from now enable's see if we are all individuals nonetheless speaking about this insanity in Iraq and dealing with the shortcoming of further effective American blood. 1000+ extra US households will connect the more effective than 3500+ different American households in paying the fee that Boehner feels is ideal to convey democracy to a pile of sand populated with a bunch of boneheaded people. that is not well worth it.

I largely agree. The GOP lost its way after the Gingrich revolution. Perhaps this will be a signal for the party to re-embrace its conservative wing. I think a great many of us were upset enough to vote libertarian or independent this election. Notice that the Democrats had to move right to get elected. If they try to shift leftward after the election, they might have the same price to pay in '08. The problem for the GOP now is a lack of leadership. No one stands out as a contender for president in '08 and that could mean big trouble if they don't get it together.

The new direction of America shoudn't concern us. Democrats tend to be for an free choice where moral decisions are allowed to be made by the people as opposed to being dictated by the government. We the people are quite capable of making moral decisions for ourselves choosing our own beliefs. It never was important for America to police the world and bend the world to our way of thinking. It will be okay to allow other countries to make decsions for themselves concerning what form of government they choose.Truly we will be okay without this government making moral choices for its people and governing decisions for other nations...hey we might even be ok if we decide not to torture people and give folks a fair trial. While freedom may be a great unknown and many may fear it. It will be a great thing for America and the rest of the world.
