Yes. I have three of them. Sometimes it takes longer than you'd expect, for the top to grow. Two of mine grew their roots and shortly after up came the top. (within the first couple of weeks) The third one is just now beginning to grow the top and I placed all three of them in their glass vases at the same time (about 4 months ago). AND they are all in the same window, same size vase and recieve equal care. Sometimes, I think it has to do with the age of the avacado when you take the pit. For example, sometimes the pit is already split and somewhat soft, when you open the avacado and other times it's hard as a rock and you can't even tell where the split will be. The two of mine that grew the tops quickly are different heights, also. And, 1 has a single trunk and the other has two trunks. The one that's just now growing the top, has about 17 (no joke), trunks. Be sure to put it where it can get full sun for a few hours each day. That'll help it to grow faster.

Yes. Give it some more time. If you intend to grow it for the fruit, you'll need additional trees. avacado are either male or female. Got to have one of each for the fruit to be produced. Takes a few years (7+) for that also.

Yes! :)
It takes time, and patience, but the plant is worth it. You will need to transplant into non-shock soil with additive (see gardening section of walmart) when the green starts coming out of top, do NOT over water! :)
