I drive a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant and I have a radiator leak. A guy said he would fix it but it was going to cost me around $150 bucks. I just don’t have the extra cash right now plus I would be without my car for a day or two. Not good. Are there any sealants or temporary fixes that I can use until maybe the New Year?

There are several good products available. Check Car Quest, NAPA, Walmart Automotive section etc. Keep in mind it is only a temp. repair. If it is a pin hole or minor leak these products will repair.

bars-leak will help, but rember that the cooling system is under pressure and by turning your 1/2 way to off you can run the car
with out building up the pressure and keeping the coolent in the radiator. under pressure the leak will piss out quicker, but there is
no real fix other than having a radiator shop do a permant repait

Auto stores have some items that you add to your radiator and if the leak is not too big, it will plug them up. It is a really thick liquid with pellets of liquid metal in it...something like Bars radiator leak stop.

If you know someone that can use a torch and brazing rod, they can fix it easily if it's in the cores and not the tank.
If you can see the leak and it's not a plastic part...a simple soldiering iron and some resin core soldier will work as a temporary fix.

Yes they sell radiator stop leak and it works great. I used it on my 1988 cadillac and my 1994 camrey. You can get it at any parts store. It's in the $5-$10 price range.

I f you are going to keep the car, then fix it. You can go on ebay and buy a new radiator for under $75. It is made of plastic and real easy to install.

I've seen an egg do the trick on Mythbusters, but I think that it wouldn't hold until January.
