I recently saw a picture of someone that actually had a tattoo carved into their skin. Does anyone know what this is called?

Possibly braiding? This is where the skin is actually cut into strips and braided so it re-heals in a sort of carved pattern.

scarification and it hurts like hell. But when it heals you have a beautiful work of art that will last forever. Many tribal practices are becoming increasely popular in north america and europe.
