Many of our scam victims to our group got taken on match.com and yahoo personals by false/fake romance scammers. I believe that Dr. Phil needs a wake up call here. Any comments people?

I am not out to bash Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil and the general public does not understand the scamming issue on the Dating Sites. Of course there are honest profiles there. The average person is no match for a trained professional scammer. Yes, they go to scammer school. We have intelligent people with the group that have been scammed. Some dating sites have a rate of 30% that are scammers. Your overseas dating sites are 99% scammers in Africa. Why doesn't match.com and yahoo personals take down a fake profile then, when submitted with proof???? We have two new members this week. One lost $4,000 and one lost $7,000 due to scams. The scammers use sophisticated, clever, rehearsed scripts and work in groups. They even use stolen family pictures. We know of one mentally disabled site that they ripped people off. No, I and other people will not relent until the dating start cleaning up their acts and the general public is scammer aware.

I think because he works with a lot of relationship issues and a lot of people are meeting and dating via internet. People can get scammed any way and how, it is not the websites fault people need to be more alert to scams, period. Most reputable websites have fraud disclaimers. People need to be responsible for their own selves and be aware of scams. They are easy to fall into but if it sound too good to be true......we all know it probably is.
*****Update******you can scam any one anywhere, If it is not a legitimate state, federal or well known business STAY AWAY.......people too much want to make a quick and easy buck instead of working hard for their money..these people want to get money for free and then curse the scammers...duh....I had a nigerian scammer try to scam me out of a car that I had on autotrader, did I get scammed out of any money? Not a single penny. I do not watch Dr. Phil often but did catch a story of woman who was scammed meeting someone on Yahoo. The guy clearly had a nigerian accent and she never met him and sent him money...it is not Dr. Phil's fault nor ANY legitimate website..people need to stop playing the blame game for goodness sakes we are in the 21st century.

David, I can understand being a bit bitter at personals sites that do indeed let people down with false hope occasionally. But, please realize that Dr. Phil has handlers and financial advisors that order what he does. And on some level, he may agree with them in theory, but basically, while I hate to disillusion anyone, at the end of the day, it's about the money. As for a wake-up call, I think it may be too late, and too futile. What I would say is, leave Dr Phil to his own devices for your own well-being, and try to focus on the good, for every 10 of the scams, I'm sure there is at least 1 happy couple that actually makes it.

You must realize that not ALL profiles are misleading on these sites. Actually, MOST are honest profiles given by honest people. It's up to you to be discreet and determine if someone is truthful or not. Not Dr. Phil's fault. Why can't he endorse them? He's not putting false profiles up and certainly these services are valuable to people because they DO connect people as they advertise. I just think you should lighten up some. There are many other reasons to bash Dr. Phil, if that's all you're wanting to do.

How is it Dr. Phil's fault or even Match.com's fault if someone posts false profiles? What Dr. Phil is doing is offering to give his advice to those who are legitimate searchers. It is up to people who are using those sites to use them with intelligence and discretion...both things I wonder if very many people have anymore.

Dr. Phil (not a real doctor by the way) is like many celeberties.....how much money he's getting paid to endorse whatever he is endorsing.

He does it for the same reason Michael Jordan endorses underwear and fattening Mc'Donalds.

Money.

He indorses them for money. Why else? He's a doctor and out to help people, especially himself.
