citizens do elect directly their representatives, but who does elect the speaker ?

In Ireland the Majority Party in the Dail,The Irish Parliament, take
nominations from Individual Party members and if agreed is
elected it is very loose arrangement. The Oldest Member is
Usually Picked.

There are five major officers of the House.

1st. Speaker. All members vote for speaker. Each political party appoints its candidate, and the speaker is decided accordingly. We have not bothered with this formality in some time, and just appoint whoever the majority party puts forth.
2nd and 3rd. Majority/Minority leaders. These are elected from within the party of the majority/minority.
4th and 5th. Whips. Appointed by the leaders, these individuals beat up their own party members and "whip" them into line for party votes.
