Yes, I was an idiot. I received a Summons for Public Urination in NYC. Does anyone know what this entails in terms of fines, fees or staying on my record? The officer wrote the wrong appearance date on the ticket (He wrote January, 2006). Does this matter? I am assuming it is 2007 he meant. Any help or experience here would be hepful.
Very embarrassed, but thanks.

First of all, it is only a summons and has nothing to do with a criminal record. If you fail to appear (no matter what the officer wrote) a warrant will be issued. Then you will have a problem. Appear on the date, pay the small fine and forget it. Tell him you had a full bladder and didn't want to wet your pants.

This was also asked last week, and I spent quite some time preparing a useful reply:

It counts as "disorderly conduct" (NYS Penal Law § 240.20) and the fine depends on the judge.

An obvious technical error on the summons doesn't make it void. On the other hand, if you move out of state you can't be extradited. And if you can prove a disability (a medically-certified bladder defect) you can beat the summons.

Oh, man,. Well, when you got to go you got to go, I would do as Seinfield did, and claim you have Uromicentisis, a condition of the bladder that if you don't go it could kill you.

Best of luck buddy, I don't know much about that law, but wanted to respond
