I always thought that garlic thins the blood like onions also garlic dilates the muscles of the blood vessels which may help with blood pressure with a natural compound it has. I think it can help with lots of heath benefits so to eat or take capsules of garlic can only benefit health but not a saviour of a person with blood pressure. I hope this helps.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

YES, IF your high blood pressure is caused by cholesterol deposits, garlic can definitely help because it is proven to break it up. Also dilates the blood vessels. Kyolic makes several garlic products that you just swallow and they don't burp up.

However, if you're really going to treat hypertension aggressively with alternative medicine, you're going to do more. Research the subject and consider your own situation and your own body.

Just to get you started, some teas to substitute for caffeinated drinks are: Lemon Balm, Chamomile, Linden Flower, Hibiscus. All of these are somewhat calming & will help relax the blood vessels. (Caffeine constricts them.) Nettles tea, as strong as desired, removes cholesterol deposits & increases elasticity of arteries.

Herbs, Etc., out of New Mexico, makes a tincture called "HB Pressure" will take down numbers in 15 minutes. Instructions on label for 150 lb. adult - adjust dosage as required & monitor BP carefully to not overdose.

Where Hypertension is due to faulty kidney function, add Dandelion Root tea. It is a natural diuretic that is high in potassium.

Supplements: Inositol, Zinc, Vit. C, Vit B6, Vit E (200 i.u., gradually increase to 400 i.u.), Magnesium - 300 mg., Choline.

Some scientific research indicates that garlic can have some health benefits.

preventing and fighting common cold; lowering of Low density lipoprotein carrying cholesterol (LDL-C); treatment of hyperlipidaemia; the significant inhibition of atherosclerosis via the use of aged garlic extract Kyolic; and the protective nature of chronic garlic intake on elastic properties of aorta in the elderly[. Regular and prolonged use of therapeutic amounts of aged garlic extracts lower blood homocysteine levels, and prevent some complications of diabetes mellitus. It may have some cancer-fighting properties because it is high in diallyl sulphide (DADs), believed to be an anticarcinogen.

I eat it in an avocado cream. 2 avocado´s, 2 tubs of philedelphia cheese, 3 cloves of garlic, add milk till soft and creamy, add some lemon juice to slow down the "browning" and salt and pepper.. If your trying to lower colesteral then best use low fat milk and cheese.

Or try tomato, onion , garlic salad with olive oil. yum, yum.

To lower colesteral excercise and an overall healthy diat is best.

I have taken garlic for high blood pressure and it helped lower my B.P. I usually take garlic softgels and that does the job. Adding garlic to any foods is all right if you like the flavour.

Yes, evidence suggests that it is good for lowering blood pressure. It also has many other benefits, including helping the digestive system and boosting your immune system. If you don't particularly like the taste, then just buy some odourless garlic capsules.
