I think the meaning of life simply boils down to one thing: choice. The choice to survive, to prosper in life, to start a family, to live according to certain values as we desire. Many people talk about the meaning of life, and indeed there will be several answers to that question, but there is one thing in common: each person answers it according to the dictates of their own mind; out of their own choice. There is nothing in all the universe which compares to the ability to make up our own mind, and what is the opposite of choice? Slavery. And what is the opposite of slavery? Freedom. What is a sibling of freedom? Life. Thats why the meaning of life is choice: it is whatever you make life out to be.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

simple answer: an amazing Monty Python movie....:) more in depth answer: My opinion is that lifes meaning cannot be described from one person to another. Each person has their own meaning of life and their own purpose for taking part in it. The meaning of life for me...is making mistakes but never regretting them, and just living how you want to live. Life's too short to sit around and let people take over your life...i don't know if this helps..or if it was even what you were asking..but whatever. :)

Only you can answer that question. To some, there is no meaning. To others, it is explained in a religious book. Some create meaning from a feeling inside or the way they interpret the world.

We are put on this earth for different reasons. You may not know why you are here until you leave but you will know eventually. While you are here be kind to everyone and treat other people the way you want to be treated. God bless you.
