Allowing oneself to want to see that they are prejudice,why they are prejudice and after that feel the need to want to change.Once a person understands and accepts a negative behavior then the motovation for change becomes a lot easier.

Just seeing it there and not acting on it is the first and biggest step.

Realizing that you have a prejudice. Sometimes is so deep, that it is easy to be confuse with a "reasonable" point of view, educated opinion, etc.

I try not to let it bother me. I let it go in one ear and out the other. If it was me or my race of people I would not be politically correct. but the part of town I work in being white is a minority and I have learned to tolerate the racial slurs and all the crap that goes along with it

First remember that under the skin that we are all the same and that god made each and everyone the same. We may be different shapes,sizes and colors, just remember that if we were all exactly alike, spoke,looked the same acted exactly alike,and thought exactly alike , how would we tell each other apart?

Imagine yourself in their shoes. Think about their feelings and thoughts and situation. If you are of the kind, try praying for them: for their happiness and safety, etc. You can't feel the same alienation from them if you truly try this exercise.
