It's natural. Male pattern baldness is hereditary. A inexpensive solution is a shampoo and conditioner called Mane 'n' Tail. Believe or not I was turned on to this by other people who use it and it slows down balding to the point that new hair can grow. It is a horse shampoo that I found at wal-mart. Unfortunately there are NO side effects so your friend will not be hung like a horse using, LOL. Have him try it. The worse thing is his hair will look good.

Depending on the cause, it can be treated with a hair repairing conditioner, followed by a moisturizing conditioner (of course after it has been shampooed). You can cut alot of breakage also by keeping the ends trimmed. Some of the products I use is Nexxus and Paul Mitchell. Read the labels to see which product best suits you. Excessive wear of ponytails can be a contributing factor, however, the daily shedding amount of hair is between 75 to 150 strands of hair a day. Watch your intake of certain foods ( junk foods), drink plenty of water. You also have to be careful of adding to much of what your follicles already produce, such as, if you produce alot of oily you don't want to add heavy oils to the scalp. It clogs the pores and the hair can't grow as it should. You might want to use a clarifying shampoo. Just remember you are what you eat, what goes in is produces outwardly. Hope this is a start.

The only known cure for male pattern baldness is removal of the testicles. Alas it has to be done before puberty to have much effect. So, since you are to the point of hair loss happening, it may not work nearly as well. then again, given the nature of the surgery, one might well prefer to go bald.

There are a few products on the market that purport to be sucessful in reducing hair loss but the one common thread I see in their instructions is you must massage them into the scalp for 20 minutes each day. So, I just save my money and make sure I get a thorough scalp massage in my morning shower. While it hasn't prevented hair loss, it seems to slow it down some.

Most of the products you see advertised do very little to help with hereditary hair loss. You can try them, but you just need to make sure your expectations are reasonable and be prepared for a bit of a letdown.

There are surgical procedures to slow the process (you've probably seen those commercials as well), but they're expensive and I do not know of how well the results turn out.

My best advice is to get to a point where you're ok with yourself. It happens to a lot of guys (most guys, in fact, sooner or later), and it doesn't change who you are. Be happy with your bald head. Your confidence carries you a lot farther than your hair.

im 24 and also losing a lot of hair. people have told me about the horse shampoo i tryed it. i didnt notice a difference but it made my hair feel really soft. i also heard about the yoke and staying away from those shampoos that have a bunch of crap in them. to tell you the truth i think any shampoo or stuff that soak in your scalp makes you go bald. i use some natural mexican shampoo but i dont use a lot of shampoo. i heard that your suppose to massage your scalp softly to get blood flowing and stimulate the hair follicules. i also want to get some comb that stimulates that scalp. i also heard that you lose hair if you dont get the right vitamins and minerals. i also dont put any junk in my hair anymore like gel or even yoke because over drying is the number one reason hair falls out. if your scalp is dry the hair breaks off easy. they sell some oils you can put for moisture but i just leave my scalp alone and also dont put hot water in your hair and dont keep messin with it.
