As a woman I have always worried about a burgalar entering my kitchen window. What woud you do and have you?

Consider mounting metal bars over the outside of your window. There are attractive wrought iron and wrought aluminum bars now, so it wouldn't have to make your house look like a prison.

I have this theory about people worrying about what might happen! it usually happens to them! there are window locks that you can buy for pretty cheap at home depot ! and for the mean time just take a stick and wage it in the window close the blinds and stop worrying about it! and if you would feel better get a motion light for the out side in front of the window! www.X10.com it can give you some ideas!

There are windows locks available. There are bars/gratings available. There are security systems available. There are dogs, guns, and security guards and macho men available....

But perhaps the problem is more to do with your fear than the window situation.

I would certainly encourage you to secure your windows, doors, etc. if you want but would that do the trick? Have you tried to examine what gives you this gnawing fear?

They make latches for windows that slow down burglars. You can always put bars on the window. Just shut the window and lock it when you aren't home or are sleeping.

I heard from someone who had a bad experience...' do not leave your kitchen knifes in a place where they are easily accessible/found...if you leave them in plain site they can become as much of an aid to a burgular as a tool to protect yourself with'.
