Not sure which you meant, so I'll do both interpretations:
with x in the numerator (i.e. 1/3 * x)
x + 1/3x - 4/9x =
9/9 x + 3/9 x - 4/9 x =
8/9 x
with x in the denominator (i.e 1/(3x), you need the parentheses if you meant it this way)
x + 1/(3x) - 4/(9x) =
9x^2/(9x) + 3/(9x) - 4/(9x) =
(9x^2 + 3 - 4) / (9x) =
(9x^2 -1) / (9x)
Obviously, the parentheses matter a lot in transposing this problem to this forum...
Also, it worries me how many people post answers on here without a clue how to do math...

x + 1 / 3x - 4/ 9x
first combine like numbers and variables, divide 3x into 9x getting 3x, and add it to x leaing 4x.
4x +1 -4

x + 1/3x - 4/9x =
27(x) + 27(1/3x) - 27(4/9x) =
27x + 9x - 12x =
36x - 12x = 24x
The answer is 24x
