It does what any DNA does. It controls protein synthesis via messenger RNA.

DNA controls protein synthesis in cells. It doesn't matter if the cell is an epithelial cell or a brain cell. Which protiens are produced is a function of what type of cell (how the DNA has been altered from when it was in a stem cell).
