Yes sir, I talk to the screen and ask, "why a bad rating?" My Best answers have bad ratings. Doesn't make sense to me.
I use Mozilla and the icons for Thumbs Up or Down just register as two 0s. I surmised that the left one was the Up and the right one was the Down. It took about 3 and 1/2 wks. before I saw what they looked like, when using IE.
I believe that a few people hit the thumbs down for grins, because many great answers don't deserve that rating.
I propose that the only one that can rate answers is the question asker. There is abuse of this privilege just as there is in reporting abuse. I decided that I will give only good ratings and no ratings if I didn't care for the answer. Remember, "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all."

Sweetie,it really doesnt bother me.The only thing that bothers me,is those who are out to report for no reason whatsoever.I get multiple violation emails from those with the reason "Chatting and Personal Communications".It is ridiculous, because the way this little forum is set up,is considered "Chatting" in general.I get a laugh, but it really doesnt bother me to get a thumbs down.I do not take it that seriously. However,i do generally put effort into my answers, and as long as i have the satisfaction that i gave a good answer, and possibly helped someone out then i feel my jobs done.Have a good day hun.

I don't generally notice. I normally only go back to old answers if i get a Best Answer.....and those usually don't have a lot of thumbs down.

(I always give you thumbs up, by the way.)

No, not at all. Getting a thumbs down does not mean its a bad question or answer but that person who gave the thumbs down didn't like what was asked or the answer that was given

sometimes. Even when I ask a very innocent question like "What's your favorite tv shows?" I got 4 thumbs down for that (but I did also get 4 thumbs up to balance it out).

Sometimes - especially if I feel I gave a sincere answer. I honestly think there is somebody who goes through as many questions as they can and gives everybody a thumbs down just because they can - without even reading them.

on a lot of things no it don't bother me.i found out we can't please everyone and sometimes when you get the thumbs down its actually a good thing because it just makes you try harder to make yourself better.now when it comes to women different story, all my life i have had a problem asking women out or even carrying on a conversion with them fearing they would make fun of me and make me feel stupid .I'm a very shy and sensitive person and have a hard time dealing with rejection.years ago i was with a friend of mine when we ran across these two girls,we talked for awhile and i started feeling an interest in this one girl so i asked her out.her and her girlfriend both laughed in my face.it hurt so bad i was never able to ask someone out again.i just let things happen on the spur of the moment from then on.I'm 58 years old and i live with that incident inside of me to this day.your probably thinking, well he must be gay then trust me I'm not i just live one day at a time.the right woman for me is out there, its just a matter of time till she or we find each other. good luck Pete

In the beginning it did, but after a while it just doesn't matter as much.
I can commiserate with what one of the other respondents said, it is annoying if you have put considerable effort and research into your answer.
