The walls are adorned with interesting historical memorabilia, but people come for the barbecued ribs, which can be shipped throughout the USA. The pork loin plate is also worth the trip. If your appetite is large, try the rib feast for two or the "all you can eat" specials - real bargains, both. Leonard's motto is "what real pit barbecue is all about." Reservations not accepted. Purchase a soda from the vending machine and dig in to the best barbecue around.

I drove through Memphis last year and asked the same question of one of my chat friends from there. Answer was Firebirds. I took my three kids there. (from the outside I wasn't sure I could afford to). The prices were about $11.00 a plate. We eat out and travel alot, but we all remember what a wonderful meal we had there. If I ever get back to Tennessee I will be eating there again.

Rendevous is of course, very famous for ribs. They use the "rub" method. Cozy Corner is also wonderful. I prefer the "wet' method of ribs, and I found wonderful and delicious places just outside of the city toward the Stax museum, but Rendevous is pretty famous, so you might as well.

Leonard's - great ribs both dry and wet, also an excellent buffet if you do not want a sit down meal
