At this point in really depends on the Democrats. If Democrats choose to honestly work for change for all Americans they will reach across the aisles to craft legislation which benefits all. If they do this the veto should not be an issue. However, if Democrats choose to go partisan and stick with a liberal agenda then yes the government will be hopelessly lost in gridlock for the next 2 years. As Mr. Bush will veto their legislation and they will not have the majority required to override.

The funniest thing about this whole farce we call elections is that the same thing happens over and over again. All our country does is sway back and forth, republican and democrat, and it always comes back to one or the other.
So really, it's no big deal that the democrats have 'taken over' congress. They'll probably take over the white house too. Then, after 4 or 8 years, the country will want to shift the other way again, and a Republican will be elected. Before that, of course, the senate will go back to the Republicans.
Getting back to your question though - yeah, we'll have gridlock for sure, because the dems don't have enough votes to override a presidential veto. If the dems take the white house and keep the senate, then you'll have a few years of things getting done (whether you like those things - it depends which side you are on), then the country will get sick of going left and will go right.

No the reason that we are better off is that even with gridlock, we will not be passing through bills that are favored only by the far right. up until this summer bush had not vetoed a single bill and the one he does oh stem cell research. the possible cure for cancer, paralisis and a host of other illnesses, grid lock is better than free reign for the republicans
oh and Dboy the dem are not going to take away our guns, I love guns and plenty of democrates love guns. but what the reps want to do is eliminate the amendment where you have to be born in this country to be president, do you really want arnold swartznegger to be our president? because your party does...

We can only hope. If the Democrats are allowed to pass the laws that they want, they will ruin this country.
They want government health care. Look how the government runs things. You do NOT want these people in charge of your health and the health of your children.
They want higher taxes. Oh, you think you'll be exempt because you're not "rich." Ask your local Democrat to tell you exactly where the "rich" line is drawn.
They want to take away our Second Amendment rights. The only thing that gives any power to any of our rights is the Second Amendment. Without that, the government can do anything they want to us.

Not at all. I think moderate republicans will now have the balls to stop goose-stepping with the neocons.
We will finally get some real decisions made which represent most Americans-moderation!
