im making a mouse trap as a technology project...a contanier with a rotatable lid...cheeese on middle top of lid...when mouse steps on it he falls in container. i need to talk about my hidden scientific processes...i think its got something to do with balancing...anyone care to help pls :) thanks

the lid is in balance because forces exerted on the two side of it are equal. when mouse steps on it , the force on one side of the lid(mouse side) become greater so there is no more forces balancing on the lid then it rotates and ...

and.. the rodent in question which has been balancing upon 4 feet suddenly finds that it must balance upon it's two rear feet, leaving itself in a precariously unbalanced position as it's forward body is no longer supported.
