I am actually only 35 weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy and it has been very complicated. I have been having contractions for a little over a week and have dialated to 2 cm just recently after loosing my mucus plug. I had a fetal weight ultrasound at 33 weeks and 6 days and the baby weight in right over 5 pounds. My doctor is not too concerned about an early labor at this point, as he is big and seemingly healthy.
But down to my question. I am actually taking a large amount of iron daily (doctor's orders) as I am anemic. I have been taking them for well over a month and of course it comes to no suprise that they make me very constipated. But for the last 3 days it has been quite the opposite. I have passed several BMs each day with ease. It is quite strange.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a positive sign of progressing labor?
Thanks in advance!

It sounds such as you healthcare professional was once filled with BS together with your 1st two children. Given lengthy ample (don't forget, due dates are simplest estimates, an entire time period little one can come each time btw 37 and forty two weeks) you most of the time could have long gone into hard work to your possess. Unfortunately, many medical professionals do not paintings with a girl's frame however insist on dealing with it. All of the occurrences that you simply indexed are traditional for past due being pregnant. They do not imply something approximately the nearness of work or how in a position your frame is. Just chill out and place confidence in your frame.

So your BMs are more frequent and softer as I understand right? If thats the case, then I would have to agree that this is a sign of impending labor. Im 39 weeks right now, and have had loose frequent BMs for about 3 days now. The doctor says that sometimes the uterine contractions can influence the bowels. Its also positive because the intestinal movements actually will also help progress labor... (Thats why some women drink castor oil to help start labor).

Congrats and Best of Luck to you~

I was around 34 weeks in my second pregnancy when I started with loose bowels, had bad back and crampage.. I started preterm labour dialated 2 cm and made it to the finish line 38 weeks.

Definitly a sign of preterm labour. Doesnt mean that you will go into labour now of course. Means labour is inpending it could happen now it could happen when your due. Definitly let your doctor know about your bm movements!

I have read that when labor approaches you have more BM...it happens to many women...maybe just the body getting ready and clean before all the pushing..maybe talk to your dr about it? my best advice is be ready and have your bag pack, you never know when your baby is gonna make his/her big appeareance. Congratulations on your new baby!

Please do NOT use castor oil to promote labor. Any doctor will tell you that is a dangerous practice.

You can find many signs of labor if u just search the net.

Peace and God's blessings with you.
