the cieling caved in in a rental appartment ,the staff says there is no money to fix the problem, there are small children in the appartment.

"then call your district attorney and ask for advice" A district attorney represents the people/state in criminal prosecutions. They aren't able to nor will they offer advice in a civil matter.

You need to call the building inspector, housing code enforcement or whatever agency you have there that is in charge of habitability of apartments and buildings. An enforcement officer will come out to write up a violation and your landlord will have to make the repair.

I tried to find the number for you on google but I couldn't even find a town called Claremonte, FL. Are you sure you have the name right?

ask to be moved to another apartment asap...then call your district attorney and ask for advice...ask for the owners name and phone number. he may have to put you up in a motel while the problem is being resolved.
