I don't live in Hollywood or CA but I am still involved in theatre on a regular basis; it is possible. I would definetly audition for some community theatre or take some classes if you want to get started. Check www.castingaudition.com for some good auditions in your area.

Go audition for your local theatre company. You can also take classes at your local jr. college. You don't have to live in Hollywood to be an actor.
