Is Chennai airport the most convenient or Tiruchirapally, (have to come from Mumbai). Which is the cheapest?

You can come from Trichi. You can go to Alangudi (Gurustalam) by going via Tanjore - kumbaknam-alangudi. By car it will take about 3 house maximum as Kombakonam - alangudi Road was not good about 1 year back. Now I do not know.

While Mumbai-chennai air connectivity is good,Mum-Trichy not so.
From Chernnai,you can go by road to Kumbakonam (250 km),5-6 hrs travel.
From Kumbakonam, the road to Alangudi (1 hr) is not bad.
