Slipknot- listen to their Subliminal Verses Vol 3. Album, its awesome.

Murderdolls- listen to Dead In Hollywood

Marilyn Manson- listen to his Last We Forget The Best Of Marilyn Manson, its a good cd, or The Golden Age Of Grotesque

HIM- Dark Light

KoRn- See You On The Other Side, or their Issues cd

Apolyptica is kinda fun. Bloodpit. In Flames is nice. Cradle of Filth. Opeth is a fun metal band. Strapping Young Lad. Mastadon. Hatebreed. Demons & Wizards. Iced Earth. Ministry. Dragonforce. Pig Destroyer. Godhead. Old Man's Child. Dimmu Borgir. Children of Bodem. Mortiis. Meshuggah. Slayer. Six Feet Under. Hope that helped.

Black Sabbath since they invented the genre
Type O Negative- Metal +Goth= Super Doom and gloom
Stormtroopers Of Death- 1st crossover of hardcore and thrash
Testament- San Fran Bay area thrash
Metallica's first three releases because everything after Master Of Puppets is a waste of listening
Ministry-OK so it's really industrial but eh, they're classic
Death-even though the singer of this group has passed on it's some of the finest death metal to be found
Slayer-Just buy Reign In Blood and Seasons In The Abyss
Iron Maiden-Finest two and three part guitar harmonies under the sun, who else could turn the poem The Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner into a metal tune?

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME: hardcore/metal band good death metal screamer. some amazing guitar.

start with Slayer and move on from there

remeber some death metal is good and some of it sucks. it is very easy to tell the differnce
