No...if you know how Government works, the Dems do not have enough seats to really do anything...remember the President can Veto laws he does not like, and it takes a 2/3rd vote to over ride that....228 to 206 is not a 2/3rds...also too, many of the Dems that were elected were Conservative...so this really is just a wasted House and Senate...nothing is going to get done...just a lot of jaw jacking...and political in fighting...on the bright side though, this will show how ineffective the liberals really are and I predict there will be a Republican President in 2008 and a return to Republican lead House in Senate...oh yea I am more of a Moderate than a Conservative...but Liberals are crazy...and no I don't thump Bibles...I just hate most of the Democrats....=)~

I am not a Republican, but rather an independent. I did vote republican at the national level because I have seen no positives for change from the Democrats. I am not angry either. I do not place my hope in either party, but rather in the people of the country. I firmly believe that the people make the right choices the majority of the time. In 94 they voted the Democrats out, this was the right choice. After 4 decades of control the Democrats had become fat and bloated with power. The Republican exhibit the same characteristics now after 12 years of power. A split government is not always a bad thing and Americans have a tendency to hedge their bets in this area. I for one am willing to give the Democrats the benefit of the doubt, but now it is time to look forward. Democrats must begin to express their view of change and how to achieve it rather than just pointing to the other side and calling them bad or evil. They must reach across the aisles to craft legislation favorable to all Americans. Failure in this area will only result in another shift in the next election. Based on the voter sampling around the country, people did not vote for the Democrats, but rather against the Republicans.

I will ignore your sarcasm to answer your first question seriously. I have always been republic because of my family. We were wealthy, and Republican views were a good fit. Recently, our family company went under, and I am now not so wealthy. For the first time I have actually had to work hard for every dollar I have earned. This political race I found myself voting 100% Democratic. At this point in my life, Democratic views are a good fit, and I am excited by the potential in a Democratic majority.

Well I am a republican all the way and the president is a republican... I feel like this everyone is intitled to there own opinion..... wether they are a democrat or a republican.... people say the republicans are fro the richer and the democrat for the poor... and thats not right, people can believe in what they want to... I was reading something online this morning that really got my goat... it was about abortion, it said that a republican does not whatsoever believe in abortion, and a democrat believes a woman should do whatever because it is her body....... ever choice or desccion someone makes should not be put into democrat or republican... i mean I say it is going to rain and you say it isnt, does that make me a republican and you a democrat..... not one time during election did i see a commercial about what either heath shuler or charels taylor was going to do for us.... all we heard was what each other did, shuler spent 11 million dollars of others people money on advertising... and never once said what he was going to do for us........used to i cared what happened, but anymore I dont, because it doesnt matter what anyone says or does NEVER will EVERYBODY be happy... ps congrats democrats

Angry, no not at all. I'm a little disappointed although on the same hand when the $hit hits the fan now you democrats can no longer blame us republicans. I know that a politician is a politician no matter its political party. They are all out for personal gain so your party will to fail in the eyes of Americans and now we can blame you so get ready to enjoy your crow for it is coming....

Well, as a Democrat, I was hoping that with our gains, true and meaningful dialog could open up about how we can work together, but it seems that many, such as this example are simply going to go "tribal" and use the same tactics that their detested enemy has used in the last few years.

Please know that this kind of thinking is what perpetuates the unwieldy and largely unworkable two party system in its worst form.

Whoa, hold on a sec. there buddy. There are christian democrats too, they are just smart christians. I know that the separation of church and state is what makes the country free. Religion is a right in this country, it shouldn't be a law.

The republicans are angry and feel defeated, because everything that they have done to benefit themselves will soon come crashing down.

Naturally, the common people don't want war, but they can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.
Tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and endangering the country.
It works the same in every country.

Saddened, that the forces of darkness and ignorance have prevailed. With Dems in charge, hang onto your pocketbook and your freedom - they're coming to take them 'for the children'.

It's scary that so many people bought into the bumper-sticker sound-bite party platform of the Democrat party.

This, too, is how Rome fell from a republic to a dictatorship.

Senate - House - Whatever....

The President is still Republican and still has the power to Veto.

As for my state, we kicked some Democrat rear! I am still in good company with people that love America and hate the terrorists!
