How small? Usually you can find what you need at Wal-Mart or maybe a good hardware store. After that just start looking through places like Home Depot, Builders Square, and the like. If you need something the size of eyeglass screws you need to try the optics section or the home improvement are of a department store like Target or K-Mart (or whoever is in your area of the country depending on where you live).
If all those fail try a hobby store for remote control vehicles or a place that sells parts for jewelry like Hobby Lobby or anyone specializing in the like in your town.
