The Gulf Stream acts as a heat supply for Western Europe during the winter, keeping it milder than west coast of USA. During the summer the sea acts as a source of cooler winds keeping much of the land mass in a temperate climate.

In Europe we have a warm current the gulf stream whilst in America, you have a cold stream the Labrador stream

its warmer when i went there in the summer but at nite its cold, which i thought was odd. Beautiful the sun feels so much better there than here. in the northeast.
