I am a Republican.

As for the Dems win, well, from the TV analyses on the various networks the "liberal" media is more portraying it as a Repbulican loss. Voters didn't like the war. They have no idea how the war will be ended, but they don't think the Republicans can do it.

If the Dems think an impeachment hearing, big show investigations on 9/11, Katrina, the war, etc. will benefit them in the 2008 elections, they will lose their majority. The American people want something done about Iraq, and immigration. They will continue voting out people until they have "peace" in Iraq (meaning troops home without too much shame in the failure to create a stable Iraq) and an end to illegal immigration.

Furious. Democrats have won fair and square in the House. They earned it. The Senate is not yet decided.

I honestly think that Democrats will not resist their liberal ways. Americans clearly have had it with the Republicans.

We will have amnesty for illegals. I know this because the house Republicans were the only ones that stood against it. There are at least 2 Republicans gone that voted against amnesty.

We will have tax increases. Both actively and indirectly by not keeping tax cuts.

The economy will tank. See the previous statement.

We will be attacked on American soil. Democrats will impede the Presidents war on terror. The leaders bragged they killed the Patriot Act, lie about terrorist surveillance, etc. Honestly, we as a country deserve it. We are too stupid to learn what goes on. I voted Republican across the board. I did my part and I will complain. I am also getting involved. No talk without action here.

I am speaking from an outsider's point of view. Let Iraq solve their own problem. Maybe Saddam had to do what he did to make Iraq what it was before (no civil war). For example, Mao Zedong in China. He killed millions and because of his actions, people fear him and obey him. It is this also that, the country is peaceful. Before him ... :-( civil war.

Bush should read up his history before making a decision. Till date, how many people have died under his presidency.

I feel that Democratic will focus on what you guys do best. Be a progressive nation.

Very happy!!! (I am still worried one of the two remaining Senate seats won't break our way)

However, now they need to deliver. They need to force Bush to testify about the war and his other actions. They need to force Bush to veto popular legislation, like a minimum wage increase and Iraq/Katrina contract oversight. If they don't, the Republicans will use them for a scapegoat and take one or both houses back in '08.

as a democrat,

i feel for the first time in a long time there will be accountability instead of a rubber stamp. it is this rubber stamping that leads to corruption.

think of all the war profiteering the abuses of the Constitution this change in power may very well have saved the country we love from becoming something else something like a dictatorship....

Let's see if they are any better, I have never seen it. Oh, think back to when Clinton was in office and we had a higher unemploement rate and no one could afford to buy homes, I guess thats better then defense at least that's how the voters voted, Which in 3 years we will see what everyone thinks then!!!

I'm conservative, populist and anti-globalist. That means I voted for Schwarzenegger (R) but winced doing it, and voted against Feinstein (D), and winced doing that, too.

I think illegal immigration is destroying our schools and wages for the working class, and that the Senate immigration bill with its huge numbers through family immigration and permanent immigration of future seasonal workers will literally destroy upward mobility and protections for our own poor. I hope I am wrong, but given that belief, I wanted Republicans to maintain control of the House. (The Senate Republicans were useless, in any event, so no great loss, there.)

Obviously, I'm disappointed and hope we can turn this around in 2008.

Its sad that I had to vote for "the lesser of two evils". I dont have a party affiliation. Its like theres no good people left in the government, on either side, and they all have their own adgenda. Im just glad it changed so we can see if its gets better , or god forbid, worse.
