Generally men are less prone to shed tears. Is it because they are less emotional or some other reason?

Tears indicate height of emotion. Even uncontrollable laughter is accompanied with tears!

It's not will power that prevents me from crying. I've TRIED to cry.

I don't think men are less emotional; it's just that they have a Strong will power to control it, whereas women feel at ease after shedding tears. Men, too, are human beings, so I can't imagine that they are less emotional. Woman make herself comfortable by shedding tears whenever she feel the need to do so, whereas men think twice that it's not manlike to shed tears. It is the matter of prestige issue with men, I guess.
Whenever I feel like crying, I do so but I hate shedding tears in public so I search for some private place to do so. I just hate, people see me crying James.

It's a combination of biology & socialization. Having testosterone instead of estrogen is half of it. You can't underestimate the power of hormones to make us emotional! The other half is the way that we were raised. As children, girls are indulged when they cry "Are you hurt? There there poor girl." They are comforted and taught that they're fragile. "Be careful...don't get your dress dirty." Whereas if a boy cries, his father may be more apt to say "Don't be a sissy! Be tough!" & they're expected to run amok, rolling in dirt, being more aggressive etc. I once saw a boy in line at a rollercoaster. He was crying & saying he didn't want to go & his dad was saying "Come on! Don't be a baby!" which I didn't think was right to force him to do something he didn't want. But there seems to be this macho mentality "Be a man! Be tough! Real men don't cry!"

I love a sensitive man but they're very hard to find. I knew one who was quite fragile. He hated himself for having emotions & didn't know how to deal with it so he tried to drown it in alcohol. It's terrible that men feel they're not allowed to have or to show their feelings.

I enjoy a good cry. It's very cleansing! I'm glad I'm not a man! I couldn't stand all that macho crap! I'm a girlie girl!

I don't think that it is because they are less emotional. I believe that they are conditioned as boys then as young men that crying is a sign of weakness. This coaching is instilled and is tough to beat.
There are exceptions, of course. Me? I don't cry much, but when I do, I'm a blubbering wreck. I think it is due to the release of pent up emotion. It's good for your wellbeing to let it out once in a while.

Men are generally afraid to show heightened emotion. We think we'll look too effeminite if we cry. Would you rather look like a big girl to the dudes or shed quietly in your pillow at home? Oh wait, I've already done that once...

Men are educated into not showing emotion. It is unnatural. Men and women feel to the same degree, but women are allowed to be free with their expression of feelings, whereas men are not.

I think it's mostly on how you are raised. I was raised never to cry. So I don't in front of people. My brother's the one who cries. But crying isn't weakness. Not being able to show your tears because you are afraid of what people will think of you is weakness.

Now it may not suit.
Actually economical independance makes a person not to weep much even if his parent dies.

Men prefer to shed CROCODILE TEARS which others may not see. Females are exhibitionists, & dont mind what others see them doing.
